It’s pretty obvious now, that a business without a strong social media presence is falling behind. Consumers are looking to social media for proof of quality of work, reputation, brand personality and an insight into methodologies and philosophies. Social media is the modern day platform that allows every single person and business an opportunity to inspire, influence and position themselves in a very powerful way.
In saying that, I do not believe that spending thousands of dollars on digital marketing campaigns is always the right move. But what is always the right move is the commitment to genuinely interesting content, consistently.
I have grown my social media following to the tens of thousands without spending thousands on gimmicky digital marketing campaigns and fostered an engaged online community without sacrificing who I really am.
My market is like me - highly intuitive, kinesthestic and switched on - they can see and feel through a “salesy” marketing campaign a mile away. Especially the types of campaigns that are formatted in the same way, use the same language and look like they’ve been copied from some template that everyone has access to. They’re annoying, full of fluff and over-promise, under-deliver.
Genuinely interesting content and engagement, consistently, are crucial for organic growth of a powerful social media presence. Yet. to define “genuinely interesting content” for your brand and your market takes some work to discover and a clever strategy to execute effectively. Especially when it comes to managing the different platforms and balancing the fine line between privacy and transparency.
